Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fourth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing and transport. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.

Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 65,000, and an expenditure budget in excess of $118 million. The population is culturally diverse with 9.9% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.

Festival and Events Officer

Salary: $78,424.32 per annum pro rata

Greater Shepparton City Council’s Economic Development Department is seeking a highly motivated, organised and passionate person to take on the exciting role of Festival and Events Officer.

Working closely within the Major Events team, you will be responsible for working with the community to develop, grow and deliver relevant community, cultural, creative and multicultural events including Converge on the Goulburn and Carols by Candlelight.  The role will also support other selected major events in the region to help the Major Event team manage the regions iconic major events calendar.

This role includes working with the community on sustainable event practices and assists with our event grant programs and contributing to the development and implementation of Council's Economic Development Strategy, creative arts and cultural policies and program.

The Festivals and Events Officer will have a can-do attitude, ability to build strong authentic relationships and partnerships with local business and industry and community, excellent organisational and attention to details skills, along with high level communication skills.
