Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fourth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing and transport. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.

Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 65,000, and an expenditure budget in excess of $118 million. The population is culturally diverse with 9.9% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.

Communications Officer

Salary: $76,140.48 per annum

This is a great opportunity to showcase your communication talent by joining a skilled, creative and dynamic team. Your role covers communications with a focus on internal communications using a variety of platforms including online, intranet and e-newsletters utilising the organisation’s internal communications strategy.

You will play a key role in providing internal communication strategies for major projects, such as the Customer Experience implementation, the Council Plan and a Culture Change project, to ensure they are communicated appropriately to staff in a timely manner.

In addition you will provide external communications in line with the strategic goals of our Council Plan and our Department’s Business and Strategic Plans.

Your organisational ability will shine in this role. You will enjoy working with a vibrant, multi-skilled and supportive team who are highly regarded within the organisation. We have in-house graphic designers, web developers, social media specialists, marketing officers and communications officers but we work as a team on projects and campaigns.
