Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fourth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing and transport. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.

Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 65,000, and an expenditure budget in excess of $118 million. The population is culturally diverse with 9.9% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.

Senior Officer – Rates and Revenue

Salary: $72,057.44 per annum

Greater Shepparton City Council’s Rates & Revenue department is seeking a highly motivated, efficient and organised individual for the position of Senior Officer - Rates and Revenue.

The position has a range of administration and financial responsibilities including:

·         Co-ordinating and facilitating the collection of rate and sundry debtor revenue;

·         Co-ordinating Re-valuation, Supplementary Valuation and Objection processes;

·         Maintaining the integrity of data in relation to Rates and Revenue functions;

·         Preparing and assisting in the preparation of financial reports;

·         Processing financial adjustments; and

·         Attending to enquiries from ratepayers, Government agencies and external contractors.

The successful applicant will possess highly developed communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work to deadlines maintaining a high level of attention to detail, be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and ideally have a minimum of three years’ experience in rates, conveyancing, debt collection or other relevant administration role.

In line with the public health order issued by the Chief Health Officer under section 200 of Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 (Vic), this position has been identified as requiring a CoVid-19 Vaccination.
