Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fourth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing and transport. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.

People and Development Advisor

Salary: $67,741.44 per annum

Full Time - Permanent 

Council is seeking an experienced human resources professional for the position of People and Workforce Advisor. 

The People and Development Advisor works as part of the People & Development team reporting directly to the Team Leader People and Workforce. They are responsible for a variety of generalist HR functions, with special emphasis on employee relations, recruitment, projects and providing general advice on Council’s Enterprise Agreement and relevant Awards.

Other duties will include:

  • Providing advice and practical solutions to Supervisors dealing with staff interactions and staff relations.
  • Assist with developing and implementing Human Resource policies and procedures.
  • Managing and facilitating Corporate Inductions for staff, and various employment workshops for the Community.
  • Writing, assessing and classifying Position Descriptions.
  • Answering employee queries and providing exceptional customer service to the Organisation.

Note:  This position is subject to a 6 month qualifying period in accordance with the Fair Work Australia minimum employment period.  During the qualifying period employees will be provided with appropriate on-going induction, support, assistance, resources and training to enable them to meet the required performance standards for the position.
